As many of you know, Shane recently purchased a new "used" car to replace his old Dodge Durango with 120K miles on it. Now the Durango was a fine car that was paid off and got Shane to and from work. I think we were just tired of things starting to fall apart on it.
So at first he was thinking he would just donate the Durango to charity. But we did just spend $700 in July putting all new tires on it and then found we could probably get about $3500-4000 for it if we sold it which is way more than the $500 max you can get by donating it. So this weekend, Shane spent all day Saturday detailing, shampooing, and washing the car. He also ordered a part to fix the window mechanism that has broken once again.
But on Sunday while in the middle of church service, he kept getting the nudge to just donate it, so he told me and said he was going to ask our pastors if they knew of anyone who use it. Turns out they knew of a single mom whose car kept breaking down, so they would let us know if she could use it. Turns out that night we were talking to another fellow church member and come to find out, this single mom's car had completely died that Sunday morning. Strange huh? So Shane and some other of our home team friends, called this single mom on Monday to tell her about the car. She was so completely thankful and crying so hard. She is a single mom of teenage girls with currently only $18 to her name until payday this weekend. She was having to make 2 trips Sunday mornings to first take her daughters to church and 2nd, take some neighbors of hers to church that she was trying to get them to know God. So now she will only have to make one trip on Sunday mornings! She also said, it's blessings like these that will show her non-believing family about how God works and takes care of us.
Now how is this testing you faith? Now for me this is a test of my faith on a selfish level in a way. There are all kinds of things we could use that money for. Our kids college education for one (which we have barely built up). But I know God will use this to make my faith stronger and bless us as well. What's a few thousand dollars when you can bring a few people to know God?
