It's not easy having lunch with Daddy

For the first time last Thursday, we had lunch with Daddy at his work. I know, we've been here almost 5 months and we just now went to visit him. But believe me, it's not easiest place to visit.

First, Shane had to submit my name through security to give me clearance to get in. I then had to stop at the security entrance gate, state my name, show my ID, and then get directions. You see, USAA is on like 200 acres. It reminded me of a college campus. Well, we finally drove and found the visitor parking and lobby to meet Daddy at. We had to go through a turn-style door, check in and get a badge. Talk about tight security. Then Daddy showed us the executive wing, the walking museum, etc....It was massive! It reminded me of the DFW airport terminals. The walkway kept going and going and going. One mile long to be exact. There were all these little cafe niches, and a pharmacy, and gift shops. Escalators going everywhere. I was overwhelmed! We finally made it to Daddy's desk. Met a few coworkers and then headed to the nearest cafe. This cafe had a Subway, Chick fil A, and local Mexican restaurant branch. Daddy and I had sushi rolls, Kyla had a PB&J, and Hollister had chicken nuggets with waffle fries. It was then time to start walking back to the visitor lobby. We took the service walkway. There were go cart shuttles like the airports have, bicycles you could use to make to your next meeting fast. It basically was like a small city with 13,000 residents. When the kids and I walked back to our car, we spotted a deer next to the parking lot. Kyla didn't believe it was real.

I told Daddy his workplace was cool, but next time it would probably be easier if he just met us somewhere outside the office. =)
