Well, we are coming off a busy weekend at the Stephens household. After Kyla's first week of school and mommy getting used to driving a lot more and entertaining Hollister without sister, we were ready for some rest! Kyla hasn't revealed too much about school except that she likes to play on a merry go round where you ride tricycles to power it and a friend she has made named Jackson. Now with 6 other girls in her class and only 3 boys, I'm not sure why she has befriended a boy. =) Mommy is sure digging the pull up in your car and drop off/pick up style of leaving her though.
Saturday, mommy redeemed her mothers day spa package gift. I spent 3 hours there and received a brown sugar scrub, paraffin wax, massage, and wonderful facial. It was well deserved and enjoyed! I could get used to a monthly facial. Shane said, you could give up your gym membership in lieu of that, but then I would be supple but not shapely. Ha! While I had my treatment, Shane played golf with his dad and brother. Then we went back home still exhausted for some reason.
Sunday was busy! Church first, which was great, then we were off to Austin for a b-day party. On the way we stopped to look for Hollister a bed at the Pottery Barn outlet, but the line to check out was 30 minutes long, so we left to go to the party (with plans to stop on way back). The party was fun and it was great to see Kat & Steve and the b-day girl Jocelyn. I wish more of our friends would have been able to join us. We then left exhausted again and stopped back at the outlet. Paid for our bed (it was a great deal!) but then when we went to load it, it wouldn't fit. We had decided to buy a queen size because we think Hollister will be 6 ft tall by the time he is 14 and there is no way he would then fit a twin.
Monday, Shane's day was already planned for him because he had to drive all the way back up to San Marcos to get the bed. He got home about noon. Then that afternoon, we went and bought a mattress. We decided it was time for us to have a new mattress and that we would give Hollister ours. It has a few years left on it. That way, if he pees or pukes on it, it wasn't entirely new. So we are anxiously awaiting our new mattress and maybe it will help my back! We got home, Shane mowed the grass, ate dinner, and the weekend was gone! A lot accomplished, but not much rest!
On a side note, we have been visiting a new church for the past month that we really think fits us. It is SO much smaller than we are used to (300 total compared to 1500 total). But it's nice to have that level of intimacy and not feel like a spot in the crowd. The music is good, the preacher is REAL, and the messages definitely apply to life. We do miss our ACF church in Austin, but feel we can hopefully try to make this our new church family. It's called Journey Church (www.journeychurchsa.com).
Have a great week everyone!
